Old school friends and apprentices together

David and Kenny were in the same class at Forest Boys School in Horsham and went on to become apprentices together at Lintott Engineering 1967. A couple of stories from that time may show a side of David that you don't all know about. A Friday night coming home from the Starlight Ballroom in Crawley David driving his Ford Anglia, speeding through the outskirts of Crawley. What appeared to be a "maniac driver" in a Hillman Husky tried to overtake. David decided to give it a run for it's money and the Hillman tried to overtake twice more. It finally got in front by cutting a corner and stopped at an angle across the road. I think you can all guess what was going on. Luckily the boys got off with just a warning from the police officer that time. On day release at Crawley College the Lintotts apprentices including David and Kenny had been told they needed to go back to Lintotts for 5pm after finishing at college. They decided to bunk off college at lunchtime and have the afternoon off. Imagine their suprise when arriving back at Lintotts there was a ceremony to give David the Apprentice of the year award. You were a good friend David, we will miss you. From Kenny and Mary Duane.
